Over the edge
If you saw this on the roof of the office building I work in currently and guessed that this was a wooden seat which a worker would sit on after it is slung over the railing and then would be lowered down to wash windows and paint walls, then you’d be right!
seems pretty similar to the stuff they use to wash the windows in my buidling

Yeah? Guess it’s not so weird after all. It actually reminded me instantly of the cliff climbing scene from Princess Bride.

To be fair, I think that window cleaners here use a quality nylon rope that does not at first glance appear to be as frayed as the one in the photo.
