Back that van up

Back in a moving van, I am helping a friend move some things across the city.  As it turns out, growing up in a family which owned a twelve-passenger van has at least one disadvantage; when a friend rents a moving van, who do you think gets asked to drive  it?

Still, eager to help, I take the helm of this UHaul moving van.  Within moments of taking the driver’s seat I look at the rear-view mirror to try to back up this vehicle, but I am thwarted. The storage compartment is both large and opaque, so there is no way for me to look out of the back windows.

I guess it’s going to be side-mirrors only on this trip.

Still, in my unsuccessful attempt to use the rear-view mirror for reversing, I did gain some useful information.

Mirror Moving Van

While I am futilely searching for maneuvering assistance (in the form of a rear-view mirror), I at least get information that will help me maneuver the vehicle in low-ceiling situations.

It’s all about placement.  Nothing especially brilliant, but I do admire the thought behind well-placed instructions.
